Paul Neale - Board Member
As President & CEO of DOAR Litigation Consulting and a principal consultant in the firm's Discovery Consulting practice, Paul Neale has leveraged nearly 20 years of managing complex litigation matters to build one of the industry's fastest-growing companies. Under his direction, DOAR has become the only company that has centralized all services needed to manage large, complex litigation matters. Paul has assembled a management team of experts in the fields of jury consulting and trial support to create an organization whose scope of services and expertise is unmatched. Nationally recognized as an expert in overall case management with an emphasis on the management and production of electronic evidence and the use of technology at trial, Paul is a published author, speaker and accredited CLE instructor. He consults clients on implementing best practices, the current state of the law as it relates to the evolution of the rules of evidence and the impact of technology in displaying evidence on jurors' decision-making.
Paul is a testifying expert in federal court regarding the proper preservation, management and production of electronic evidence and routinely supports clients in their negotiations with opposing counsel or regulatory/government agencies. He testified before the advisory committee which drafted FRE 502 dealing with privilege waiver. He has prepared affidavits outlining best practices in the handling of electronic evidence and the defensibility of response programs on behalf of his clients. He is also a member of the Sedona Conference's Working Group on Electronic Discovery, which spans a wide array of industries including financial services, insurance, pharmaceuticals, media, manufacturing and individual white collar defendants.
Paul graduated from Temple University with a BA degree and has taken advanced courses at the Wharton School of Business.
Michael A. Ferrara - Board Member
Since joining DOAR in 1999, Michael A. Ferrara has utilized his background in business development, complex project management and engineering to shape the firm's overall business strategy. As Vice President and Managing Director, Mr. Ferrara currently oversees the daily business operations and logistics of the firm. He has managed several business initiatives and projects, as well as implemented key business processes, all of which have had a substantial impact on the firm's organization and structure. Before moving to his current position, Mr. Ferrara steadily rose through the ranks within the firm to become Vice President of a DOAR subsidiary. He was also previously responsible for overseeing the firm's Electronic Discovery, Imaging, Coding, Video Conversion, and Printing groups.
Prior to joining DOAR, Mr. Ferrara worked as an engineer on large-scale construction and engineering projects in conjunction with municipal and state agencies. He graduated from Manhattan College in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Summa Cum Laude.
David Bainbridge - Board Member
Mr. Bainbridge is responsible for sourcing, developing, and monitoring private equity and mezzanine debt investments in the professional and educational publishing and business information services industries. Since joining VSS in 2003, he has been active in the firm's investments in Solucient (sold to Thomson Corp.), Infobase (formerly Facts on File), DOAR Communications, Gallo Holdings, and MediZine LLC. Mr. Bainbridge is currently a Director of Infobase and MediZine. Before joining VSS, Mr. Bainbridge spent 10 years as an investment banking professional, most recently with Berkery Noyes & Co., specializing in various institutional publishing and information segments. In the mid-1990s he worked with Scott-Macon, a New York-based M&A boutique, in their Media, Communications and Publishing Group. Additional transactions that he participated in include Ascend Media's acquisition of SynerMed, the original mezzanine investment in Schofield Media, and the sale of Ringtail Solutions to FTI Consulting.
Mr. Bainbridge is a graduate of Cornell University and an honors graduate of the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Jeffrey Stevenson - Board Member
Jeffrey T. Stevenson, Managing Partner of VSS, has overall responsibility for the management of the Firm and each of its Funds. Mr. Stevenson has been the senior partner of all investment committees of the VSS Buyout Funds and Structured Capital Funds. He joined the Firm in 1982, shortly after its formation, and has been the head of its private equity business since its first investment. He has over twenty years of experience in private equity. Previously, Mr. Stevenson was Executive Vice President in charge of corporate finance at VSS, a department he founded.
Mr. Stevenson currently serves as a director of Advanstar Communications, Xtreme Information, Access Intelligence, Infobase Publishing, User Friendly Media, Market Strategies, ITN Networks, TMP Worldwide, MediZine, Cambium Learning, and Southern Theatres. Previously, he served as a director of Vault.com, The Official Information Company, Centaur Communications, Birch Telecom, ITE Group, Pepcom, Yellow Book USA, Rifkin Acquisition Partners, Triax Midwest Associates, Broadcasting Partners Holdings, Spectrum Resources Towers, PJS Publications, Kansas Broadcasting Systems, B&B Merger Corporation, Cable Management Ireland, International Media Partners, Hughes Broadcasting Partners, Triax Southeast Associates, Canon Communications, Hanley Wood, De Telefoongids, Mediatel and Broadcasting Partners. Mr. Stevenson holds a BA from Rutgers College.
