DOAR Launches Discovery Consulting Practice Group
For Immediate Release
Friday, January 20, 2006
New York, NY - New York – NEW YORK – January 20, 2006 – DOAR, the premier litigation consulting firm supporting top tier law firms and corporations involved in high-stakes litigation and regulatory matters, announced the formal inauguration of DOAR Litigation Consulting’s Discovery Consulting Practice Group. The Group is comprised of experienced lawyers and technical experts who deal with the increasingly complex issues faced by law firms and their clients relating to the management and defensible production of electronically stored information.
DOAR’s discovery consultants have been involved in some of the most prominent matters since the very dawn of the electronic discovery revolution, including regulatory and internal investigations, white collar criminal and civil actions related to market-timing and late trading, insurance bid-rigging, First Amendment issues, securities fraud, research analyst conflicts and pharmaceutical products liability. Our involvement has been instrumental in formulating defensible data preservation and production plans, and in dealing with regulators, opposing counsel and the courts in narrowing the scope of discovery and examining issues such as cost-shifting, standards of reasonableness, production format, data spoliation and “Best (and most cost-effective) Practices” in both electronic evidence production and electronic record management. Our focus is on providing the best solutions that save time and money while meeting legal obligations.
While DOAR has historically provided consulting of this nature, we have expanded our focus to include “litigation readiness” consulting and document retention/preservation auditing and certification. Today’s legal climate demands that the risks associated with managing electronically stored information be dealt with prior to the commencement of specific legal or regulatory compliance actions. Our consultants will help mitigate the risk of spoliation and associated discovery-related sanctions through the establishment of the best practices dictated by new state and federal rules and other industry knowledge experts.
