Jury Consulting

Community Attitude Surveys

DOAR's community attitude surveys provide valuable insight into how particular issues and clients are perceived by the public. Our researchers formulate probing questionnaires, poll a large pool of potential jurors and carefully analyze their responses and ultimately provide insight into what drives jurors psychologically and sociologically as they consider the arguments and facts of a particular case.

Focus Groups

DOAR's interactive focus groups fully examine the perceived strengths and weaknesses of your case from a jurors' viewpoint. We conduct each focus group in an informal atmosphere where jurors, facilitated by a jury consultant, are encouraged to discuss candidly their perceptions of, and reactions to, the case issues and arguments as presented to them. The jurors' evaluation of the case can be a useful tool to fine tune a winning trial strategy, as it serves either to affirm a pre-existing case strategy or identify prospective case strategies and themes that might prove more effective at trial.

Mock Arbitrations

DOAR's mock arbitrations give litigators an opportunity to observe case-specific decision-making by experienced arbitrators in preparation for ADR. Findings from this exercise, coupled with responses to custom-designed questionnaires, will either validate or refute proposed case strategy.

Damages Research

DOAR will create and carefully design a custom damages study for your team and recruit a sample of mock jurors that closely matches the demographic breakdown of the real jury pool. These jurors will hear your presentations, as well as the plaintiff's arguments, to determine and validate the amount of damages. This insight can help your team develop a more effective damages presentation strategy for the actual trial. It may even help you advocate for an alternative solution to a trial.

Demographic Assessment and Thematic Development

DOAR will perform the research necessary to compile a demographic study on potential jurors in the venue. Based on the demographic assessment and additional information provided to us, DOAR will formulate preliminary recommendations on an overall narrative strategy for the case and for individual themes we believe will resonate with jurors.

Jury Selection

Our consulting team includes experts in a variety of disciplines who specialize in jury selection. We will help you advocate for extended voir dire and craft appropriate questions. In court, we will assist you in identifying and selecting jurors who can judge your case fairly and impartially and who are best able to understand your client’s positions.
