Director of Employment Litigation

We are looking for a strong, experienced candidate who can lead the company’s employment litigation practice from our NYC headquarters in midtown Manhattan. The ideal candidate will provide thought leadership and subject matter credibility at the highest levels to DOAR’s law firm clients. The director will define the company’s future business strategy and lead our efforts to expand our employment litigation practice.   This is a highly visible position reporting to the CEO and working closely with the senior management of DOAR.

The director position requires flexibility and a commitment to meet client and court-imposed deadlines and client demands. Our clients are top law firms and companies that have an expectation that their demanding needs will be met. Hours can be variable including work on nights and weekends as needed. There is an expectation that you will be available and monitoring email at most times.

Responsibilities

The director will provide vision, strategic direction and thought leadership to advance their assigned practice area providing an understanding of national and global trends to guide our sales and marketing efforts.

The director will develop relationships with industry leaders, understand industry trends, and attend industry events. The director will plan and coordinate national conference activities and events and participate in the design, review, and update of marketing materials, branding and positioning strategy of their assigned practice area. The director will also plan and execute subject matter webinars; white papers and articles, as well as present at various conferences and trade, shows to improve brand awareness within the market.

The director will assist in defining, building and managing our Affiliate Expert program in their respective practice area, bringing on leading experts to work closely with DOAR. The director will target suitable experts in their core practice area, onboard them to the program and work closely with them to deliver the best possible results for both DOAR and the expert. The director will continue to seek out new experts on a continual basis while optimizing existing partnerships.

The director will be a role model for more junior staff and peers in their respective practice area. We are a team-oriented environment that requires conducting of work and business development in a team environment.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Experience – minimum 5-7 years of experience in a law firm or with a consulting firm, specifically with a focus on employment litigation. Knowledge of the legal landscape for employment litigation is necessary.
  • Successful candidates will be motivated, creative, analytical, efficient, and will have superior organizational and detail skills. Works well independently & self-directed.
  • This individual must be comfortable and confident presenting DOAR’s value proposition to senior lawyers and industry executives in group meetings, conferences and webinars.
  • Handle multiple expert witness projects simultaneously, with little direction, and with high sense of urgency.
  • Initiate and challenge, when appropriate, in order to move projects forward.
  • Possess a high aptitude for conducting detailed industry and legal research and determining the optimal future trends in employment litigation.
  • Moderate to high amount of travel in the United States required.

Education & Technical Requirements:

  • JD/Law degree and/or Ph.D. with at least 5-7 years of practice experience in employment litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of current and future industry and legal trends in employment litigation.
  • Must have excellent communication skills – writing and public speaking.
  • Prior experience in business development, marketing and/or entrepreneurship a big plus.
  • Proficiency in the use of Word, Excel & PowerPoint, and advanced office technologies mandatory.
