This matter involved a series of underlying liability claims that questioned Starr’s coverage obligations and alleged bad-faith conduct under Starr’s commercial policies. Following a six-week trial in the New York Supreme Court, the jury found in favor of the plaintiffs only after one hour of deliberation and awarded significant extracontractual damages to Dorchester, LLC, in a rare victory that balanced on meeting the high threshold of proving insurer misconduct.
