Contract | U.S. District Court of the Southern District of New York

Following a one-week jury trial in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, a federal jury returned a verdict in favor of Actava TV, Inc. in the Channel One Russia Worldwide case. The jury found Joint Stock Company “Channel One Russia Worldwide” and co-defendant Katrina liable for malicious prosecution and tortious interference, awarding Actava TV $1.5 million in compensatory damages and $3 million in punitive damages.

DOAR was retained by the trial team at Foley Hoag to develop the visual trial strategy, design and produce demonstratives, and provide “hot seat” support throughout a complex, data-intensive trial involving extensive Russian-language evidence and interpretation. DOAR’s work included the creation of a timeline that served as a central anchor during summations, while managing significant technical and language interpretation-related challenges under aggressive trial deadlines.

Anchoring the Story in Time

This animated closing timeline was created to present a clear, chronological account of the conduct underlying Actava TV’s claims in the Channel One Russia Worldwide case. The graphic organized events across multiple actors and jurisdictions, integrating Russian-language materials and key litigation milestones into a unified visual narrative. Designed for use during closing arguments, the timeline helped anchor the jury’s understanding of motive, escalation, and impact, reinforcing the trial team’s themes while managing a complex factual record in a concise and accessible format.
