New York, NY - DOAR Litigation Consulting’s Dr. Thomas Diamante was today presented with the Northeast Business & Economics Association’s Best Paper Award for co-authoring “Conquering the Business-Technology Divide: How to Accelerate Projects in a Harsh Regulatory Environment.” Diamante, a consultant specializing in regulatory compliance and electronic discovery at DOAR, co-authored the winning paper with Dr. Allan Ashley, a professor of business management at Adelphi University. The two men were honored during an awards ceremony held at Danfords on the Sound resort in Port Jefferson, Long Island, as part of the 33rd Annual NBEA Conference taking place this week.

“I am very flattered by this recognition from my colleagues,” Diamante said. “Business today is risk averse, a situation intensified by regulatory compliance challenges and further exacerbated by new Federal Rules for electronic discovery, which incorporate many of the same approaches as regulatory compliance. Dr. Ashley and I wanted to encourage organizations to continue evolving technology in support of business initiatives and create a roadmap for accelerating change for the benefit of the organization.”

Diamante is a well-regarded expert in his field and has held senior human resource and operational positions at Merrill Lynch, KPMG and Altria (Philip Morris). At DOAR, he works with witnesses and serves as an assessment expert on high-profile cases.

“Operational change is progressively more important as organizations grapple with increased regulatory scrutiny and an epidemic of corporate litigation,” Diamante noted. “They must mitigate risk by proactively addressing issues such as electronic discovery and regulatory compliance before they are involved in litigation or regulatory action. It comes down to gaining an advantage by being prepared versus the considerable disadvantage of scrambling when under pressure.”

Diamante lives in Stony Brook, Long Island, and works as a consultant for DOAR. He was previously vice president, Corporate Strategy & Development in Global Securities Research & Economics for Merrill Lynch; as well as an adjunct professor at Cornell University, The Business School at Adelphi University and The Harriman School of Business Policy at Stony Brook University. He holds a Ph.D. in industrial and organization psychology from the University of New York and has had post-doctoral training in clinical psychology from the Institute for Behavior Therapy in New York.

Diamante’s published works include contributions to several books on change management and human resources such as: Guidelines for Excellence in Management (Ivancevich, J. & Lidwell, W. Eds., Thomson & Texere Publishing, NY, 2004); HR to the Rescue: Case studies in HR Solutions to Business Challenges (Mone, E., & London, M. Eds, Gulf Publishing Company, Houston, TX, 1998); and Health Promotion in Practice (Sheinfeld Gorin, S., & Arnold, J. Eds., Jossey-Bass, San Francisco, CA 2006).
